It snowed here last Thursday...and I mean really snowed; about 4 or 5 inches! It was magical. December 7, 2017: I'll never forget you. Oh yeah, did I mention I live in Texas? The last time it snowed here was like 2005 and it was sleet.
Anyway, back to the real snow. It started snowing at night, and of course it did, because everything cool happens at night. When it fully covered the ground, we bundled ourselves up in the Randy fashion until we couldn't put our arms down and went out in the night. Everything was sparkly and new and it was so quiet we could hear deer running across the street. We walked around in the crunchy snow, threw snowballs, and ate lots and lots of snow. It was dreamy.
It was the almost idyllic way to kick off December. Idyllic would've been non-melting snow the next morning. The weather never does what I want. I managed to catch a few photos of it before it was all gone.
Another great way to kick off Christmas?
My lovely friend Molly and I made a night of decorating them, complete with wine, snacks, & Elf (of course). I got this recipe from America’s Test Kitchen and it turned out perfect (duh). They’re not vegan, but can be if you substitute vegan butter for the real butter and make a different icing (there's egg whites in royal icing). Question: has anyone made a vegan royal icing with aquafaba? Curious about that.
